Effect of Organic and In-organic Fertilizers on the Production of Jute Cuttings.

Abstract/ Executive Summary:

To find out the effect of organic and in-organic fertilizer on the production of cuttings, one experiment was conducted at three research stations (Faridpur, Rangpur and Monirampur) of BJRI during 2001-2005 with 4 replications following RCBD having unit plot size 4.5m x 3.0m. The treatments were T1=80N-10P-20K-20S Kg/ha, T2= 5.0 ton/ha organic fertilizer, T3=1/2 organic +1/2RDF and T4= Control.Two varieties of jute namely CVL-1 and OM-1 were used in the experiment. The percentage of cutting increased with the increase of base diameter in both the jute species. If we consider jute cutting as one of the culture for fibre quality assessing character, it is clear that the jute quality varies inversely with the base diameter of the jute plant.

Objectives:

To findout the effect of organic and in-organic fertilizer on the formation of jute cuttings.

Methodology:

The experiment was conducted at the research stations-Faridpur, Rangpur and Monirampur during 2001-2005 with 4 replications following RCBD having unit plot size 4.5m x3.0m. The treatments were T1=80N-10P-20K-20S Kg/ha, T2= 5.0 ton/ha organic fertilizer, T3=1/2organic + 1/2RDF and T4= Control. Seeds of two varieties namely CVL-1 and OM-1 were sown on mid April.The plants were harvested at 120 days of crop age.Necessary data were recorded and analysed following standard statistical procedures.

Achievement/Findings:

The quality of jute fibre varies inversely with the base diameter of the jute plant if we consider jute cutting as one of the parameter for fibre quality assessment.
