Develop the Yarn Pulling Through Yarn Holding and Bobbin Rewinding Systems of New Mean Deviation Meter (old Developed Deviation Meter) Developed at the Napier College of Commerce and Technology in U.k.

Abstract/ Executive Summary:

Development of F/W mean deviation meter is very important work in the field of production of fine and regular jute yarns. The development of yarn pulling through, yarn holding and bobbin rewinding systems made of machine trouble free motor speed trouble and dielectric variation in the test capacitor due to transverse variation of the yarn through it. In attempt to improve the newly developed Mean Deviation Meter in Napier College, U.K. from an older version Fielden Walker mean deviation meter development of a better pulling through, yarn holding and bobbin rewinding system was sought for in order to eliminate anomaly in the results. After successful development of the whole system of holding and pulling of the yarn through the capacitors, machine was found to be trouble free. After the improvement, Percentage Mean Deviation (PMD) of yarn of 5 different counts gave a close approximation to the results obtained by gravimetric method. The development work was carried out independently in the laboratory of the Physics Department of the BJRI in 1984. Measurement of PMD for 5 different yarn of different count gave a close approximation of results obtained by Gravimetric method.

Objectives:

2. To modify of the Percentage of Mean Deviation (PMD) machine.

Methodology:

At first, different types of yarns were tested using the new PMD machine but the machine gave some anomalous results in its operation. The next stage was development of pulling through yarn holding and bobbin rewinding systems. In the stage a motor has been used for pulling the yarn through the capacitor. To eliminate a sort of trouble, some technological efforts have been employed and thus the trouble has fully been eliminated. The machine was set on a wooden base and the motor was installed on the same base. Six guard rings made of steel rods, has vertically been installed by each pulley and the yarn under test is pulled through the small rings which crosses over the pulley and ultimately pulled by the motor rulers with a regular speed. After performing further development works measurement of PMD for 5 different yarns of different counts were tested by developed machine as well as by Gravimetric method. From the tested data the PMD value was calculated using formula.
