A field experiment was conducted at three Cotton Research Farm Sreepur, Jagadishpur and Sadarpur during kharif season in 2011-12 to determine the effect of NPKS on seed cotton yield of the variety CB-12. Yield, yield contributing parameters and economics of the new cotton variety CB-12 were studied. The experiments were set up in RCB design with three replications. The highest seed cotton yield (3063.36 kg/ha) was obtained in Sreepur which was followed by the Jagadishpur (2597.73 kg/ha) from fertilization with 115:50:125:25 kg NPKS/ha respectively. The lowest yield of 826.66 kg/ha was produced from the Sadarpur where no chemical fertilizer was applied. The yield contributing parameters plant height, monopodial branch/plant, sympodial branch/plant, number of boll/plant. and single boll weight were significantly influenced by the highest fertilizer levels. Combined analysis showed that, higher fertilizer level of 115:50:125:25 kg/ha gave highest seed cotton yield (2632.69 kg/ha). Economics analysis showed highest level of fertilizer 115:50:125:25 kg NPKS/ha gave the highest gross margin Tk. 104284/ha the lowest gross margin (3158 Tk./ha) and benefit cost ratio(1.37) were recorded from treatment T0 (control), respectively.

To find out the effect of NPKS on the yield of the variety CB-12 of cotton.

A experiment was conducted to assess seed cotton yield response of newly developed cotton variety CB-12 by Sreepur, Gazipur under AEZ No-28 (Madhupur Tract), Sadarpur, Dinajpur AEZ No. 25 (Level Barind Tract) and Jagadishpur, Jessore AEZ No. 11 (High Ganges River Flood Plain) under six fertilizer treatment (NPKS) during the kharif season of 2011-12. The experiment was conducted in RCB design with three replications in all locations. The treatments were T0 = 0:0:0:0, T1 = 23:30:75:5, T2 = 46:35:88:10, T3 = 69:40:100:15, T4 = 92:45:112:20 and T5 = 115:50:125:25 kg NPKS/ha.The experiment were set up (second week in the month of July /2011) in a plot size 4.5m × 3.6m. Cotton variety CB-12 was used as a test material. Total amount of TSP, gypsum, zinc sulphate, magnesium sulphate, borax and one-third urea and one-third MoP were applied as basal. The rest of Urea and MoP were applied in three equal splits as top dressing at 25 DAS (Days After Sowing), 45 DAS and 65 DAS. There was 10 cm deep drain around the plot to drain out the excess rain water. All other production practices were as farm standard Yield data was recorded from middle rows and analyzed by MSTAT.

Combined effects of NPKS were significant in plant height, number of monopodia/plant, number of sympodia/plant, number of bolls/plant, boll weight and seed cotton. The highest and lowest plant height (115.06 cm and 59.56 cm) observed in Sreepur treatment T5 (115:50:125:25 kg/ha NPKS) and T0 (No fertilizer). Hence, NPKS fertilizer enhances plant height of cotton.The highest means seed cotton yield of (2632.69 kg/ha) was obtained when 115:50:125:25 kg/ha NPKS which was followed by (2194.35 kg/ha) for 92:45:112:20 kg/ha NPKS respectively. The lowest produced of seed cotton yield (848.62 kg/ha) no fertilizer.
