A field experiment was carried out to know the plant growth response and yield in varying moisture, temperature and day length, an experiment with 2 varieties and 3 sowing dates was conducted at PRC, Ishurdi and RARS, Jessore in Rabi 2012-13. There were two pea varieties (Short duration BARI Motorsuti -3 and Long duration Natore local) and 3 sowing dates were, early sowing (30 October 2012), optimum sowing (13 November) and late sowing (27 November). There was a significant effect of dates of sowing on green pod yield and seed yield in both the varieties at both the locations. The 2nd date of sowing (13 November) produced highest pod and seed yield in both locations. However there was no remarkable difference in respect of days to flower, days to maturity, plant height, pods per plant and hundred seed weight (Table41) due to variation of sowing dates. But days to maturity of BARMotoshuti-3 increased from 70 to 78 and 82 days as the sowing delays, which may be due to longer growing period for flowering (low temperature effect). The lowest green pod and seed yield was obtained in the first date of sowing (30 October).

To find out the effect of time of sowing on green pod yield of pea.
A field experiment was conducted at PRC, Ishurdi, Pabna and RARS, Jessore during rabi season of 2012-13 under rainfed condition to find out the effect of time of sowing on green pod yield of pea. Two Pea varieties (Short duration BARI Motorsuti -3 and Long duration Natore local) x 3 sowing dates. (Early sowing, optimum sowing and late sowing) were used in the experiment. The unit plot size was 6m x3m.. In the experimental plots, fertilizers @20- 40-20 kg/ha of N-P205-K20 were applied in the experimental field. First sowing date was 30 October,2012 and the next two sowing dates were 14 days interval. It was laid out into split-plot design with three replications. Time of sowing was in the main-plot and variety in the sub-plot.Intercultural operations were done as per required.Last crop harvest was 18 February,2013.Required data were collected and statistically analysed.
