A field experiment was conducted at PRC, Ishurdi, Pabna during Rabi season of 2002-2003 to find out the weedicide effect on weed control and their performance on the yield of chickpea. There were eight treatments on weed control such as- control (W1), hand weeding at 30 DAE (W2), Argold (W3), Refit (W4), Arozin (W5), 2, 4, D (W6), Ronoster (W7), machity (W8), U-46 (W9) and Round up (W10). There was no significant difference on weed population and dry weight, however, weed population and weed dry weight ranges were 112 –125/0.5m2 and 13.5 – 16.8 g/0.5m2, respectively. Weed management had no significant effect on yield and yield components. However the highest grain yield (1180 kg/ha) was obtained by one hand weeding at 30 DAE and the lowest (860 kg/ha) was in ronster application. The gross return (295000 Tk/ha), net return (18180 Tk/ha) and benefit cost ratio (2.61) were the highest in one hand weeding at 30 DAE and the lowest gross return (21500 Tk/ha) in ronster and net return (11450 Tk/ha) and BCR (2.09) were found in 2.4 D.

Crop-Soil-Water Management
To find out the weedicide effect on weed control and their performance on the yield of chickpea.
The experiment was conducted at PRC Ishurdi, Pabna during Rabi season of 2002-2003 under rainfed condition. The soil was calcareous with pH 7.0-7.6. It was laid out in RCB design with three replications. The unit plot size was 4m x 3m. Weedicides were applied as per dose in the plot before three days of sowing. The date of sowing was 23 November 2002. The variety was used BARI Chhola-5. Fertilizers were used 20-40-20 kg/ha N-P205-K20 at final land preparation as Urea, TSP & MP. The soils were collected from different plots before sowing and after harvesting to know the status of NPK. Weeding was done as per treatment at 30 DAE and weeds were collected at the weeding day from 0.5m2 area to know the weed population and weed dry weight. The crop was harvested on 28. March 2003 and yield-contributing data were collected from 10 randomly selected plants from each plot and grain yield (kg/ha) was recorded from each plot at harvest. All types of variable production cost were recorded to find out the benefit cost rabi. The recorded data were analysed statistically and the means were separated by DMRT.

Twenty five thousand
It was found that weedicide had no effect on weed control in chickpea cultivation but one hand weeding at 30 DAE is economically viable for chickpea cultivation.
