The experiment was conducted at Spices Research Centre, BARI, Shibgonj, Bogra during 2011-2012. Thirteen different ginger lines with BARI Ada-1 as check were evaluated based on yield and other characters. Significantly the highest no. of tillers/plant, no. of leaves/plant, weight of primary and secondary rhizome, and yield along with better yield contributing characters were observed in the line G004. The highest yield was obtained with G004 (18.82 t/ha) and the lowest with G0012 (9.12 t/ha).

Variety and Species
To evaluate the yield and yield components of thirteen ginger germplasm collected from different parts of Bangladesh
This experiment was conducted with 13 ginger lines at SRC, Bogra during April 2011 to February 2012. Rhizomes were sown on 18 April 2011 maintaining 50 cm x 25 cm spacing in the unit plot size 4.0 m x 1.5 m. The experiment was laid out in randomized block design with three replications. The crop was fertilized with cowdung Urea, TSP, MP, Zinc, Gypsum @ 5t, 304kg, 267 kg, 233kg, 3kg, 111kg/ha, respectively. The entire quantity of cowdung, TSP, Gypsum and half of MP were applied during land preparation. The half of the Urea was given 50 days after sowing. Remaining MP and Urea were applied in two equal splits at 80 and 110 days after sowing. Intercultural operations were done as and when necessary. The crop was harvested on 14 February 2012.
Spice Research Report 2011-12
Plant height, number of leaves/hill, number of tillers/hill, weight of primary rhizome, weight of secondary rhizome, yield/plant and yield ton/ha were found significantly different. The highest yield (18.82 t/ha) was obtained from the line G004 followed by G0024 (15.62 t/ha), and BARI Ada-1 (15.60 t/ha), respectively. The lowest yield (9.12 t/ha) was obtained from the line G0012.Disease severity (rhizome rot) was lower in G004.
