Study of Selected Lentil Genotypes Against Rainfed in BARInd Drought

Abstract/ Executive Summary:

A field experiment was conducted in the farmer’s field of FSRD site, Kadamshahar, Godagai, Rajshahi during rabi 2013-14 to select lentil genotypes against drought stress through farmers selection under Barind environments. There are three treatments, farmers practice (T₁), irrigation (T₂) and control (T₃) & one lentil variety and two genotypes viz. BARI Masur 3, BLX-01049 and ILI-5143 were tested in the farmer’s field of High Barind Tract. Among the lentil genotypes BLX01049 gave the highest seed yield (1.29 t ha^-1) that is followed by ILI-5143 (1.15 t ha^-1). The lowest yield (1.01 t ha^-1) was obtained from BARI Masur 3. Considering the seed yield line BLX-01049 are the suitable for lentil production in High Barind Tract.

Objectives:

To select lentil genotypes against drought stress through farmers selection under Barind environments.

Methodology:

The field trial was conducted of FSRD site, BARI, Kadamshahar, Godagai, Rajshahi during rabi 2013-14. The experiment was laid out in a randomized complete block design with three replications. The unit plot size was 4m x 3m. The seeds were sown in 30 cm row to row distance and seed to seed 5 cm. One lentil variety and two genotypes viz. BARI Masur 3 and two advanced line viz. BLX-01049 and ILI-5143 were tested in the farmer’s field of HBT. Seeds were sown on 2 December 2013. The land was fertilized with 24-18-20 N-P-K kg ha^-1 in the form of urea, triple super phosphate and muriate of potash, respectively. All fertilizers were applied as basal during final land preparation. The crop was harvested on 08 March 2014. The seed yield and yield components of lentil were recorded. All the data were statistically analyzed following the F-test and the mean comparisons were made by DMRT at 5% level.
